Addie Mae Canter Hurst

AIKEN – Mrs. Addie Mae Canter Hurst, 84, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday in Southlawn Cemetery with Reverend Brancie Stephens officiating. Mrs. Hurst was born in Orange, TX, a daughter of the late Columbus and Odessa Ratcliff Canter. She was a Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Orange, TX, and a resident of Aiken since 1985. Survivors include two daughters, Carol B. Hurst, Aiken, M. Diane (Howard) Shook, Douglasville, GA; a son, D. Kenneth (Sandy) Hurst, Jr., Waxahachie, TX; three grandchildren, Susan D. Duncan, Jameson B. Hurst, Emily C. Hurst; a great grandchild, D. Guy English; a sister, Caroline Garrett, Lake Charles, LA; three nieces, Joan Landry, Sylvia Bland, Ann Stewart; four nephews, John Roberts, Richard Roberts, Marty Garrett, Billy Garrett. In addition to her parents, her husband Darl K. Hurst, Sr.; a sister Elizabeth Roberts; a brother Bess Canter, preceded her in death.
