Emery Kirk

AIKEN, SC – EMERY KIRK, 86, beloved husband of Kim Kirk, entered into eternal rest Monday, January 19th, 2015 at his residence. Emery was born June 3rd, 1928 in Mingo County, West Virginia to Willie C. and Lusty Vance Kirk. He spent his career with DuPont for forty years and Westinghouse for four and a half years prior to his retirement. Emery was an active, long standing member of his beloved Church, Millbrook Baptist in Aiken. He served as peewee football commissioner for nineteen years. Emery coached little league baseball for ten years and bantam league football for six years. He had an appreciation for a wide variety of music and loved his family immensely. Emery will be sorely missed by us all. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, son, Shannon Kirk, Myrtle Beach, SC and daughter, Sue Hudnall, Pelion, SC as well as a step-son, Ray Fouts, Chagrin Falls, OH. His grandchildren include four grandsons, Michael and Robbie Kirk and step-grandsons, Jordan and Logan Fouts, along with two granddaughters, Jackie Simpson and Erin Courtney. Among his great-grandchildren are five great-granddaughters, Olivia Ford, Haley McBeth, Rachel Kirk, Emma Kirk and Kaitlyn Courtney and two great-grandsons, Andrew Kirk and Zackary Kirk. Emery was blessed further with one great-great-granddaughter and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elbert Kirk and four sisters, Anna Belle, Mary Francis, Myrtle Cook and Elcana Hudnall The family will receive friends Wednesday from six until eight o’clock in the evening at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday at one o’clock in the afternoon at Millbrook Baptist Church with The Rev. Drs. Phillip Dunn and Chris Masters officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to Trinity Hospice for their care and support during these last weeks.
