MUSKEGON, MI – DOUGLAS WILLIAM WARD, 26, of Aiken, SC, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in Muskegon, MI.
A native of Aiken, SC, Douglas was a son of Roger Douglas and Mary Brown Ward.
Douglas will now be playing his trombone in Heaven’s glorious orchestra!
He was an Eagle Scout with troop 121 of Aiken and a member of the South Aiken High School Band from 1996 to 1998. He then attended and graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in Traverse City, MI. Douglas was currently a senior majoring in music performance at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. He was an accomplished trombonist who loved to teach and perform. Playing the trombone was not only his passion but his life dream. He loved to play classical music the best, and his dream was to play in a major orchestra. He was revered by his professors and fellow students as an extremely talented musician with an amazingly bright future.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, Roger and Mary of Aiken, include his sister, Joy Melissa Ward, Daniel Island, SC, maternal grandparents, William Virgil “Bill” and Frances Hyslop Brown, Aiken, SC and paternal grandparents, James William and Lenore Ledbetter Ward, Aiken, SC., and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, with The Rev.’s Dr. George K. Howle and Kenneth L. Nelson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
