AIKEN, SC – MELVIN HAYES “MEL” NADLER, 64, beloved husband of Carmen D. Silvestry Nadler, died suddenly Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Cleveland, OH, Mel was a son of the late Jack and Doris Bloom Nadler. He grew up in Coney Island, NY, and worked as an accountant for the New York Stock Exchange for several years. He was an avid collector of baseball cards. Mel loved all kinds of sports and felt the need to always stay active. He and his wife lived for many years in Leisure Villege West in Toms River, NJ before moving to Charlotte, NC three years ago. They had made their home in Aiken for the last year, and he was a sales associate at Belk in the Aiken Mall.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Carmen, include two daughters, Heather and her husband E. J. Reese, Hagerstown, MD and Melanie and her husband Lesley Litt, Marietta, GA, a step-daughter, Debra and her husband Sam Hunter, Batesburg-Leesville, SC, two step-sons, Ron and his wife Carmen Gonzalez, Centereach, Long Island, NY and Michael and his wife Glorier Gonzalez, Monks Corner, SC, two grandchildren, Stephen Litt and Sabrina Reese and a sister, Alyce and her husband Ira Furman, Staten Island, NY.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC, with The Rev. Fr. Jeffrey F. Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
