NEW ELLENTON – Mr. Ted Arthur Howington, 61, passed away November 27, 2008 at his home in New Ellenton, SC.
A graveside service will be held in Bethany Cemetery at 12:30 PM Saturday. The Reverend Brantley Bryan, pastor of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church, will officiate. The Reverend Daniel Braswell and his wife will assist in the service. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
Born in Toccoa, GA, Ted was the son of the late Lester W. Howington and the late Opal T. Howington. He moved with his family to Aiken in 1953 when the Savannah River Plant was constructed. He graduated from Aiken High School, where he was a member of the golf team and joined the U.S. Navy upon graduation. He served on the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise, for two tours of duty during the Vietnam conflict. In his career following military service he was employed for many years by the Bell South Corporation. His last employer was the Aiken County Department of Public Works.
He is survived by a sister, Carol Howington Tucker, and a brother, Millard R. Howington. He is also survived by a daughter and one grandchild.
