Sakuko Watabe

AIKEN, SC – SAKUKO WATABE, 79, beloved wife of Dr. Norimitsu Watabe, died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA. A native of Japan, Mrs. Watabe was a daughter of the late Shosaku and Kusue Kobayashi. She came to America in 1958. She and her husband, Distinguished Professor Emeritus Dr. Norimitsu Watabe from the University of South Carolina, made their home in Columbia, SC for 37 years, before moving to Aiken 1 ½ years ago. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Sachiko W. McAlhany and her husband Karey of Aiken, a son, Shoichi Watabe and his wife Anne of Grand Prarie, TX and four grandchildren, Brian, Matthew and Steven Watabe and William McAlhany.
