AIKEN, SC – ROBERT VANCE “BOB” HALE, 80, husband of the late Wilma Jean Haller Hale, died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at his residence.
A native of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Bob was a son of the late Melva Frances Brown Hale and Kenneth Worthy Hale, Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. While stationed in Corpus Christi, TX, he met his wife Jean, who was in the U.S. Navy WAVE’s. He moved to Aiken in 1968 and in 1983 became President/Owner of Gentry Instruments Inc. Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Aiken Ward.
Survivors include a daughter, Gaylene H. Wilson (Frank), Tuscaloosa, AL; two sons, Russell L. Hale (Alice), Aiken, Robert L Hale (Joanna), Atlanta; nine grandchildren, Paul Michael Hale, Anna Kaye Hale, Hunter Robert Hale, Afton Julene Goulding, Callie Louise Goulding, Sydney Ann Goulding, Emma Grace Wilson, Frank Cabral Wilson, Jr. and Abigail Reese Wilson. In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Worthy “Sandy” Hale, Jr.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 27, 2015 from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11 o’clock in the morning at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be John Wade, Chuck Novak, Maurice Brightharp, Ed Speed, Matthew Keller, Jim Rains, Earl Wooten and Chris Rodrigues.
