AIKEN, SC – Louise Cook Chamberlain O’Connor, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 22, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday February 27, at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with the Rev. Grant Wiseman officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Kelley Boan, George Estrada, Bob O’Connor, Jr., Christopher Boan, Dante Estrada and Cameron Wolf.
Louise was born in Danville, VA, daughter of the late Lewis Harmon Cook and Lelia Barton Cook of Danville, VA. She moved to Aiken from Northern Virginia in 1994. She was a graduate of Averett College, Danville, VA 1949 and of Wake Forest College, 1951. She worked as a teacher for Falls Church City and Fairfax County, VA Public Schools, flight attendant for the American Airlines based in New York, and spent 30 years in the Travel industry as a Travel Agent, including co-ownership of Custom Travel, specializing in high end corporate and international leisure travel. As a Certified Travel
Consultant (CTC) she travelled throughout the world, including Africa, Asia, Australia,
Europe, Scandanavia and Russia.
Louise was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, Houndslake Country Club, Woodside Plantation Country Club, and Kiwi Club of Washington, D.C.
Survivors include her four daughters, Elizabeth Boan, Annapolis, MD, Lelia Chamberlain, Spring, TX, Mary Chamberlain, New York City, NY, Margaret Chamberlain Estrada, Fairfax, VA; one stepson, Robert O’Connor, Jr., Conway, SC; one stepdaughter, Patricia Olson, Aurora, IL; three grandchildren, Sarah Boan, Baltimore, MD, Christopher Boan, Tucson, AZ, Dante Estrada, Fairfax, VA; Layda Estrada, Fairfax, VA, two step grandchildren, Eric Olson, Elburn, IL, Casey O’Connor, Conway, SC.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Peter O’Connor and previous to that, Edmund Gillette Chamberlain, Jr.
