AIKEN, SC – JESSIE KEY FORD, 78, widow of Forest Ray Ford, Sr., died Monday, February 23, 2015 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of and life-long resident of Aiken County, Jessie was a daughter of the late Viola Leona and Jesse James Key. She was a graduate of Aiken High School and worked at the Savannah River Site for 40 years, retiring from Westinghouse. She was a faithful member of Talatha Baptist Church where she was a long-time choir member. Jessie was a faithful caregiver to her late husband and sister Mary.
Survivors include a daughter, Mignon Ford, Aiken; two sons, Ray Ford (Christine), Fulton, MD, Greg Ford (Missy), Evans, GA; granddaughter, Danielle Arnold, North Augusta; sister, Elizabeth Porter Coats, New Ellenton; brother, Claude Key (Marie), Aiken. In addition to her husband and parents, Jessie was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Key, Lucille Porter and Mary Key.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon beginning at 2 o’clock at Talatha Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 3 o’clock. The Revs. Billy Wright and Clint Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Porter, Myers Porter, Stanley Porter, Bobby Key, Jesse Key, Gary Miller and Charles Barton. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class.
