Joe Rodger Fant, Sr.

AIKEN, SC- JOE RODGER FANT, SR., 94, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Vaughn Fant, died on March 13, 2015 at National Healthcare Nursing Home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Union Memorial Cemetery, Union, SC. US military honors will follow the service. Mr. Fant was born in Union, SC, a son of the late Bothwell and Ina Ruth Meador Fant. He served in the US Marines during World War II, and moved to Aiken in 1952. While in Aiken, he served as a security guard at the Savannah River Site. He was a loving father and grandfather. Mr. Fant is survived by his daughter, Rachel (Terry) Redd, Aiken; son, Joe Rodger Fant, Jr., West Columbia; grandchildren, Jason (Leslie) Redd and Bryan (Dee Dee) Redd; great grandchildren, Evan Redd, Tyler Cornwell and Chase Redd; sisters, Sarah Gregory, Ann Williams, and Jennie McClosky. Mr. Fant was preceded in death by his sister Grace Rutland; and two brothers, Marion Fant and Earl Frant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Savannah River Cancer Foundation, P.O.
