AIKEN - Thomas Fredrick Davis, 86, died Sunday, March 22, 2015. Thomas, "Tommy" Frederick Davis joined his beloved wife of 63 years in God’s heavenly presence on March 22, 2015. Born an orphan on April 21, 1928, Tommy joined the US Navy in 1944 and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Tommy was a member of the honorable SEABEE during the construction of Tinian airstrip used to deliver the weapon that ended World War II. The SEABEES were known for their “Can Do” attitude and for their motto “We Build, We Fight.” Tommy carried out each of these mottoes throughout his lifetime. He always maintained a “can do” attitude no matter the circumstance. He was a talented welder and proud owner of Davis Welding and Metal Works for over 30 years. He was a fighter in that he never gave up; he was an admirably strong man. His optimistic attitude and his love for life, his family, and his friends, kept him fighting for a lifetime of pure happiness! Tommy was a man known for giving the shirt off his back to help anyone in need; he was a selfless man and a servant at heart. His sincere handshake, his genuine smile, his ability to make others laugh, and his generosity were known around town. He was a hard worker and strived to serve his family and community proudly. He always said “money did not make a man happy, but being respected and hard work made you needed and established.” Tommy was a dedicated member of Levels Baptist Church and an avid golfer. Tommy is predeceased by his wife Mary and was a devoted father to three daughters Donna (Danny) Thomas, (both deceased), Betsy (Neal) Cormany and Tammy (Blaine) Bronson; grandchildren Courtney Novello, Tyler Thomas, Melissa Butcher, Kyle Bronson and Macey Bronson; four great grandchildren RyLynne, Gianna, Reagan, Rowan, and his beloved dog, Daisy. This man of great love will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him, but also a man whose kind spirit will last forever and one in which to be celebrated and inspired by. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM, Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clint Bartlett officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mike Butcher, Blaine Bronson, Nick Novello, Kyle Bronson, Tyler Thomas and Neal Cormany. Honorary pallbearers will be David Martinez and David Fogle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Rd., Aiken, SC 29801 in memory of Thomas F Davis.
