Lila Carswell Hamilton

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC – Ms. Lila Carswell Hamilton, 94, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, in Historic Bethany Cemetery in Aiken, South Carolina, with the Reverend James D. Dennis, Jr. officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service. Ms. Hamilton was born in Augusta, GA, a daughter of the late Charles Ansley and Elizabeth Rollins Carswell and was raised in Aiken, SC. Ms. Hamilton lived the past 60 years in North Augusta. She was a Registered Nurse, and worked for the Aiken Hospital , The Graniteville Company and also the Medical College of Georgia. Ms. Hamilton was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her son, Benjamin (Deborah) Hamilton, North Augusta; grandchildren, Tracy (Joey) Maroney, B. Brent (Anna Grace) Hamilton, Lindsay Hamilton, all of North Augusta and Shayna (Travis) Price of Appling; and also great grandchildren, Cameron Maroney, Colby Maroney and Cooper Maroney, Hunter Jabour, Tucker Price and Myles Price. In addition to her parents, Ms. Hamilton was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Woodrow Hamilton, two brothers, Rayford Rollins Carswell and Charles Ansley Carswell, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church, 639 Georgia Ave., N. Augusta, SC 29841.
