AIKEN – Mrs. Bessie Williams Whatley, 80, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM Tuesday with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Larry R. Parker and the Reverend Donny Bates officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Bosley, Ken Clarke, Jerry King, Jack Maier, Don Robinson and Joe Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Sunday School class of Trinity United Methodist Church, and members of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Mrs. Whatley was born in Bamberg, SC, a daughter of the late George and Sadie Proveaux Williams. She had been a resident of Aiken since 1964, and was a retired Operator at the Graniteville Company. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and a loving mother and grandmother.
Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Pepperhill Nursing Home and Shadow Oaks Assisted Living for their loving care and support.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Jim) Cline, Peachtree Corners, GA; sons, Tim (Debbie) Whatley, N. Augusta, SC, John (Donna) Whatley, Taylors, SC, David (Julie) Whatley, Florence, SC; grandchildren, Kaitlin Whatley, Ellice Whatley, Macie Whatley, Creighton Whatley and Clifford Bell; sisters, Eva Drakeford, Moncks Corner, SC, George Ann Wood, Bamberg, SC; brothers, Harris (Marie) Williams, Sarasota, FL, Curtis “Cooter” (Robin) Williams, Bamberg, SC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Whatley, brothers, Dennis, Herbert and Russell Williams.
