Mae C. Brown

MONTMORENCI, SC – CORA MAE CHASTAIN BROWN, 80, beloved wife of Aaron James “Jim” Brown, passed away Wednesday, April 08, 2015 in her home surrounded by family. A native of Jackson, AL, Mae was a daughter of the late Doc Lamartine and Cora Mae Downey Chastain. She moved to Aiken, SC from Stamford, CT in 1991. Mae work in the Aiken City Manager’s office for 10 years. She had a great love and knowledge of horticulture and played piano while acting as music director of her church. She was currently attending Couchton Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jim; a son, Brian Lamartine Brown and his wife, Leslie, Fullerton, CA; a grandson, Seamus Lamartine Brown, Fullerton, CA; two brothers, Gene Chastain, Monroeville, AL and Lucius Chastain, Auburn, AL; several nieces and nephews. The Funeral service will be held Friday afternoon, at 2 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with Pastor Ken McDonald officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Graveside service will be Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock at Pine Crest Cemetery, Jackson, AL.
