Evan Stroud Flynn

Gainesville, GA - Evan Stroud Flynn 69 beloved husband of Marguerite E. Flynn died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at home. A native of Highland Park, Michigan, Evan was the son of the late James Leo Flynn and Eva Kohl Flynn. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Western Carolina University and Ph.D. from Georgia State University. He was an educator and administrator in the North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia public and technical schools for 45 years. Evan was an avid sportsman—enjoying hunting, fishing and golf. He also enjoyed painting and woodworking. Over the years he was active in the Sertoma Club, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, International Management Club, and the Aiken Dove Club. Evan was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where he served on various committees. Survivors in addition to his wife, Marguerite, include his daughter Kristen Flynn McCaskill (Robert); brother Kohlan James Flynn (Linda); one grandson Braden Alexander McCaskill; nephew Bradley Matthew Greene (Alicia); nieces Jennifer Flynn Zarins (Travis); Lindy Flynn Blalock (Steve); and five great nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be held Saturday, April 18. 2015, at 2 p.m. at St John’s United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dr. W. Timothy McClendon and John W. Hipp. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Garden of Memory Brevard, NC at a later date. The family will receive friends following the service.
