Dr. Douglas Edwin Greer

AIKEN – Dr. Douglas Edwin Greer, 67, died Saturday, December 27, 2008. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Mark Miller will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Dr. Greer was born in Easley, SC, a son of the late Ansel Dewitt and Rachael Elizabeth Black Greer. He was a resident of Aiken for over 40 years, having served the CSRA as an OB/GYN physician. He was involved in the delivery of over 10,000 babies across the country during his career. He was also a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, a life member of the NRA, loved the outdoors, boating, coastal living and weapons collecting. He will be greatly missed for all of the lives he enriched with his teaching and practicing medicine through his many years in medical practice. Survivors include his beloved wife, Grace Campbell Greer; three daughters, Peggy (Terry) Greer-Buyers, Aiken, Charoltte Delayne (David) Allred, Virginia Beach, VA, Karen Leah Greer, Aiken; a son, Douglas E. Greer, II, Aiken; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Susan and Johnathan Greer-Buyers, Sydney and Sofie Campbell, Nicholas and Alexander Allred; two sisters, Joan (Johnnie) Stephens, Judy Wallace, both of Aiken; Aunt and uncle, Ralph and Jo Ellie Queen; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aiken Prep, the SC Land Trust Network, or the NWTF.
