Patricia Zurfluh Miller 80, peacefully departed this life Sunday afternoon at her home in Aiken, SC June 21, 2015. Born in Pardeeville, Wisconsin on May 15, 1935 to Evelyn S. Zurfluh & Lt. Milton G. Zurfluh. By the age of seven, Patricia had become one of the youngest survivors at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
After WWII, her family moved to Augusta, Ga where ‘Patty’ graduated in 1953 from Richmond Academy. She then studied nursing at University of Wisconsin and eventually returned to the CSRA to start her family.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 12 ½ years, Lt. Col. ‘Retired’ Jack R. Miller resident of Aiken, SC. She is also survived by her three children, five grandchildren and sister. Kay Templeton lives in Martinez, Ga with husband Damon Templeton, MD. and son John. Diane Maloney of North Augusta, SC. Joseph B. Mellen of Virginia Beach, VA lives with wife Jonnie and daughters, Hannah, Abigail, Grace and Caroline. Her sister Zona lives with husband Thomas Weeks in Westfield, Indiana. Patricia’s nephew Greggory Weeks of Vienna, Austria and niece Amy Kristensen of Westfield, Indiana along with their families also survive. Additional survivors include Jack Miller’s daughters, Susan Miller of Charleston, SC and Jennifer Melton, husband Mark and their son Andrew of Aiken, SC.
Patricia enjoyed cooking, entertaining for family and friends, bridge, tennis, was an inquisitive reader and devoted years to local charities. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta. A Memorial Service will be held at Shellhouse Funeral Home, 924 Hayne Ave. Aiken, SC Saturday June 27th at 3pm, followed by visitation with family.
