AIKEN, SC - On July 29, Jayne Slack passed away at home after battling breast cancer for 3 years. She was born in Flushing, New York in 1955. She was the only child of Dorothy and Charles Deister. The family moved to Rochester, NY when she was in her early teens.
After graduating from Sperry High School, she received her BS in Philosophy from Nazareth College in Pittsford, NY . She then started working for Kodak Government division, while also attending evening classes. She earned her MS in Applied Statistics from Rochester Institute of Technology. In 1991 she relocated to Aiken, SC so that she could take a Security Analyst position with the Department of Energy.
She loved all living creatures especially her dogs and cats. She also enjoyed growing flowers. She especially enjoyed bringing a sense of joy and laughter to everyone! She loved Aiken and all of her coworkers.
She is survived by her husband, Tom, her son Elliot and daughter Dorothy Jayne (DJ) Krueger (Mitchael).
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Vollie Gibbs officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
