James Daugherty

AIKEN, SC – JAMES DANIEL DAUGHERTY, 77, husband of the late Geraldine Seigler Daugherty, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at his residence. A native of Danville, VA, James was a son of the late Bishop and Ocie Rickett Daugherty.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.  James moved to Aiken in 1965 from LaFollette, TN.  He was a retired pipefitter / welder. Survivors include a daughter, Angela Daugherty Coe; four sons, John Allan Daugherty, Gregory Stephen Daugherty (Rose), Gerald Daniel Daugherty, all of Aiken and David L. Widener (Denise), North Augusta; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly D. Cook. A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Clint Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
