AIKEN – Mrs. Patricia Joyce Madore died at home on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel. Keith Hiott will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Norman Madore, Joel Madore, Kevin Madore, Chad Barker, Brian Alley and John Strang.
Mrs. Madore was born in New Britain, CT, a daughter of the late Norman and Mary Kowalski Joyce. She was a member of the Rocky Swamp American Indian Ministries, and an active member of the Mormon Church in Dillingham, AK. She moved to Aiken in 1985, and taught special education in the Aiken County School System. A loving teacher of 55 years, Patricia taught her students to overcome their challenges and hardships to find success. It was who she was and how she lived-always and forever a teacher.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (James) Thames, Dillingham, AK, Donna Madore, Aiken; three sons, Kevin (Cindy) Madore, Farmingham, ME, Joel (Cathy) Madore, Frederick, MD, Norman (Lisa) Madore, Denmark, SC; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Maryanne McCue, Hartford, CT.
In addition to her parents, her first husband, Richard McCarthy, second husband, Donald Andre’ Madore, and brother, Robert Joyce, preceded her in death.
