Ellen Morgan Dennis

AIKEN, SC – ELLEN MORGAN DENNIS, 87, widow of L. S. Dennis, Jr., died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Anchor Health & Rehab. Born January 30, 1928, Ellen was a native of Laurel Hill, NC, and was a daughter of the late H. L. and Dora Gibson Morgan. She attended school in Laurel Hill and then entered Woman’s College, University of North Carolina, graduating in 1949. Ellen married L. S. Dennis, Jr., of Kingstree, SC in 1950 and moved to the Aiken area in 1951. Prior to moving to Aiken, she taught school in Lumberton, NC and Blenheim, SC. She then taught at Aiken Day School, New Ellenton Junior High and then Aiken High School, retiring in 1988. She was a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church. Survivors include four children, Cindy Dennis, Aiken, Alan Dennis (Barbara), Mt. Carmel, TN, David Dennis (Carol), Spartanburg and Paul Dennis (Terry), Aiken. She is also survived by six grandsons, Benjamin, Brandon, Scott, Drew, Cam and Dillon; a great-granddaughter, Trinity and twin great-grandsons, Graydon and Grayson. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon beginning at 1 o’clock at South Aiken Presbyterian Church followed by a memorial service at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Judy Bowling will officiate.
