Larry Douris

AIKEN, SC -- LARRY DOURIS, 65, beloved husband of Betty Douris, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA. A native of Brooklyn, NY, Larry was a son of the late Gerald and Helen Gilmartin Douris. He was a commercial pilot and had retired from Continental Airlines in 2002. Larry and Betty moved to Aiken five and a half years ago from Houston, TX. He was a member of Cedar Creek Men’s Golf League and the Cedar Creek Woodworking Club. Survivors, in addition to his wife Betty, include sons, Scott Gerald (Lisa) Douris, Hinckley, OH and Christopher Laurence (Kristy) Douris, Elyria, OH; daughter, Kelly Jeanne (Thomas) Gibbs, Lambsborn, Germany, four grandchildren, Cameron Douris, Ashley Douris, and Caitlyn and Emily Gibbs; two brothers, Donald (Kathy) Douris, Red Hook, NY and Dennis Douris, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 PM at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Walter Adamski, Timothy Downie, Alan Ferenchik, Robert Johnson, Craig Matthews and George Patterson.
