AIKEN – Mr. Charles Edward Bell, 95, beloved husband of the late Frances Goldman Bell, entered into rest on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, February 17 in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel, Hayne Ave.. Reverend William Swink and Reverend Louie Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Central Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was born on August 16, 1913 in Springfield, SC to Pickens and Lena Cushman Bell. Mr. Bell was a carpenter, owner of Bell’s Grocery Store and a member of Central Baptist Church. He loved his family, fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves and Walker, Texas Ranger.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Myrt Egbert, and survived by his son, Charles “Rudy” Bell; daughters, Ethel (Jacob) Walker, Lois Bell, Ellen (Ron) Shelley, Mickie (Don) Cook, son-in-law, Norm “Rock” Egbert; sister Eva Athey; brother, Julian Bell; 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richard Shelley, Kevin Shelley, Eddie Bell, Joseph Langford, Scott Egbert and Butch Egbert.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Baughman, Truman Summers, Denzel Baughman, Drew Slayton and Wade Richardson.
Memorials maybe directed to Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Aiken, SC 29803, if desired.
