Ruth Longmire Messick

AIKEN, SC – RUTH LONGMIRE MESSICK, 87, widow of Russell A. Messick, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Knoxville, TN, Ruth was a daughter of the late William T. and Myrtle Irwin Longmire. She lived in Aiken since 1952 and was a retired secretary at Owens Corning Fiberglass. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Ruth was an avid University of Tennessee fan. Survivors include two daughters, Connie Price and Susan Ergle; a son, Joe Messick, all of Aiken; ten grandchildren, Russ Messick, Traci Ritt, Joey Messick, Gina Cato, Burt Starks, Julie Ziegler, Cliff Dyckes, Lisa Eidson, Jill Eidson and Eric Eidson; ten great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and a sister, Virginia in California. The funeral service will be Monday morning at 11 o’clock at the graveside in Southlawn Cemetery with The Rev. Kristin Dollar officiating.
