Annie B. "Sally" Ewing

January 10, 1931 — February 17, 2009

AIKEN, SC – ANNIE BASS “SALLY” EWING, 78, widow of Clarence E. Ewing, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at her residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Richmond, VA, Sally was a daughter of the late Benjamin Leonard and Rhoda Gay Osborne Bass, Sr.. She had lived in Aiken since 1952 and was a retired bookkeeper. Sally was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a part-time resident of Murphy, NC and also attended the First United Methodist Church of Murphy, NC. Survivors, include her daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Bill Skipper of Aiken, a daughter-in-law, Carla Ewing of Columbia, SC, three grandchildren, Eric Skipper, Caitlin Skipper and Elise Ewing, she is also survived by a brother, Leland Mason Bass of Richmond, VA. In addition to her husband Clarence, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael E. Ewing. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at St. John’s United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. George K. Howle and Rev. Keith Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
