AIKEN – Mrs. Ellen Willis Busbee, 90, widow of George Hatcher Busbee, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015.
Mrs. Busbee was born to the late Gary and Willie Mae Seigler Willis in Aiken, SC. She was a homemaker to her family and a member of Aiken’s First Baptist Church. Mrs. Busbee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Ralph G. (Elizabeth) Busbee, Lexington, SC; granddaughter, Ashley Elisabeth (Carl) Nielson, Mt. Pleasant, SC; great granddaughter, Savannah Grace Nielson; niece, Diane (Tristan) DuBose; nephews, Keith (Susan) Willis and Bryan (Marty) Willis.
Mrs. Busbee was blessed to have many close family and friends who spent time with her in prayer and in Bible study. The family would like to extend special thanks to her first cousin, Mary Ann Sizemore and close friends, Denise Griffin and Tommy and Debbie Sessions all of First Baptist.
Mrs. Busbee was a life long resident of Aiken, where she began her schooling in a one room school house. She was a charter member of Marion Street Baptist Church. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Mrs. Busbee never met a stranger and touched many with her beautiful smile and kind heart.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, George Mackey Willis.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Fred W. Andrea III officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Keith Willis, Bryan Willis, Andrew Depriest, Al DuBose, Tommy Sessions, Jimmy Vanderley, and Paul Scott.
