AIKEN – Mr. Carl Michael Zotter, 70, loving husband of Sandra “Sandy” Purcell Zotter, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Christopher Crotwell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A memorial Mass for will also be held Friday, October 9th, at 10 o'clock a.m. at Assumption Church located at 45 North Sprague Ave., Bellevue, Pennsylvania 15202. Carl was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged. He was a Vietnam veteran. A dedicated officer on the Ross Township police force in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 29 years, he served as the Chief of that police force in the years prior to his retirement. As a founding member of the "Kops for Kids" charity organization, he helped to raise money for sick children 8n the Pittsburgh area. For the last 15 years, he made Aiken, SC his home after moving with his wife to follow their children and grandchildren. He became a barber in his retirement, which was the perfect social setting for him as he had a true love of people and never met a stranger. The customers he met over the years as a barber became his friends, and there were many. He was the Ultimate Pittsburgh Steelers Fan, and proudly displayed his multitude of Steelers paraphernalia on The Barber Shop's walls. Carl loved his wife and family above all else, but had a special place in his heart for children and animals of all kinds. His passions included fishing, especially with his father, brother and son, vacationing in Ft. Myers Beach, golfing and boating with his son, music and being the last man standing on the dance floor. He will be terribly missed by his family. "A light went out in the world, but it's a shining star now and forever." In addition to his wife, Mr. Zotter is survived by his three daughters, Heidi Anne (Dr. Davor) Sklizovic, Aiken, Cheryl Lynne (Chip) Marvin, Erin Marie (Chris) Shupe, Charlotte, NC; a son, Carl Michael Zotter, Jr., Aiken; grandchildren, Luka Sklizovic, Alex Sklizovic, Aaron Sklizovic, Austin Sklizovic, Carolyn Marvin, Julianne Marvin, Sarah Marvin, Brandt Marvin, Christopher Shupe, Emily Shupe, Sophia Shupe, Trace Michael Zotter; a brother, Frank (Joan) Zotter, Pittsburgh, PA and his special cat companion, Charlie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Rd., Aiken, SC 29801.
