AIKEN, SC – SHERIE DIXON KOENIG, 67, died Friday, October 2, 2015 at her residence.
A native of Aiken, Sherie was a daughter of the late John David and Sherie Maude Murphy Dixon. She was a well-known artist, both locally and across the country. She presented a number of exhibits at the Aiken Center for the Arts over the years. Sherie formerly owned an antique shop in Savannah. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Graniteville, and a former member of the Aiken Artist Guild. She had a great love for horses and was a fox hunter and eventer. Sherie had an amazing family of friends and was loved by many.
Survivors include her daughter, Starr Dillon (Phil Kinard), Aiken; two sons, Joseph F. “Tad” Dillon IV (Karen Davidson), Savannah, GA, Greg Templeton (Deborah), Statesville, NC; eleven grandchildren, Brianna MacEachern (Blaise), Caitlin Edwards (William), Kathleen Dillon, Celeste Connelly (Kyle), Jesse Payne (Brandon), Josey Spencer, Dillon Spencer, Ty Templeton, Toyie Templeton, Chelsea Fitzgerald (Dan), Rachel Caldwell; two great grandchildren, Bella Connelly, Parker Fitzgerald; a sister, Celeste Haneman (Charlie), Aiken.
In addition to her parents, Sherie was preceded in death by her husband Don Koenig.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon beginning at 3 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 4 o’clock.
Pallbearers will be Phil Kinard, Charlie Haneman, Dan Fitzgerald, Stan Meadows, Ken Lain and Tom Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Garrett, Jr., Elmer Hatcher, Kyle Smith, Jason Stallings, Chuck Edwards, Eddie Bruce and “All the men she loved before”.
