Maurice Peace

AIKEN, SC – ROBERT LaMAURICE PEACE, 74, husband of Gloria Gay Gibson Peace, went home to be with Jesus Saturday, October 11, 2015 at his residence. A native of Greer, SC, Maurice was a son of the late John Marchant and Gladys Mae Owens Peace. He lived in Aiken for the last 51 years and retired from E. I. DuPont and Westinghouse at the Savannah River Site. Maurice was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and R. A.’s leader. He was a member of the Franke Smith Sunday School Class and the Millbrook Whitlers. Survivors, in addition to his wife Gay, include a daughter, Kristen Peace Smith (Stephen), Boca Raton, FL; two sons, Michael Peace, Anderson, SC and Blake Peace, West Palm Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Amanda Peace, Michael Brandon Peace, Dylan Peace, Caden Peace, Brianna Peace, Devon Smith and Ziaya Smith; a great-granddaughter, Lyric Destiny; a sister, Joy Ann Peace, Hendersonville, NC; a brother, John R. Peace, Windsor, SC. In addition to his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Peace. The family will receive Monday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock at Millbrook Baptist Church with The Revs. Dr. Philip Dunn and Chris Masters officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Marvin Bishop, Houston Brown, Mike Bruce, Bobby Carpenter, Steve Corley, Harry Harmon, Eddie Hunt and Larry Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Millbrook Whitlers and Deacons.
