AIKEN, SC – CLIFF CHESTER JOLLIE, 85, beloved husband of Roxie Martin Jollie, died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at his residence.
A native of Aynor, SC, Cliff was a son of the late John Cliffton and Rushie Charlotte Cooper Jollie. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the South Pacific during the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Master Sergeant after 33 years of service. Cliff was the former owner of Ocean Spray Motel in Myrtle Beach. He lived in Aiken since 1953 and retired from E. I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. Cliff was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and R.A.’s Teacher and was a member of the Millbrook Whittlers. He was a former member of Talatha Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the Studebaker Driver’s Club.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Roxie, include two sons, Cliff “Rusty” Jollie II (Libby), Greenville, SC, and John David Jollie (Melissa), Aiken; four grandchildren, Benjamin Jollie, Rebekah Jollie, Joseph Jollie and Brian Jollie; three sisters, Zellie Roche, Charleston, SC, Louise Jordan, Surfside Beach, SC, Joyce Herian (Eddie), Murrells Inlet, SC; two brothers, John C. Jollie, Aynor, SC and Daniel Jollie (Judy), Franklin, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Malcolm Jollie.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home beginning at 1 o’clock followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 2 o’clock. The Revs. Dr. Philip Dunn and Dr. Chris Masters will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery with military honors accorded by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
