AIKEN, SC – EARLINE RUBY CHUNN JOHNSON, 79, widow of Gale Alexander “Sonny” Johnson, Sr., left this earth, to be with her heavenly Father, Wednesday, October 14, 2015.
Born February 21, 1936 in Concord, NC, Earline was a daughter of the late Earl and Idell Winston Chunn. She made her home in Aiken since 1964 and was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church. She baby sat children in the Aiken area for many years.
Earline was the best and most loving mother to her six children, G.A. Johnson, Jr. (Ellen), Cowpens, SC, Linda Whitby, Aiken, Dennis M. Johnson, Aiken, Terry J. Jones (Randall), Spartanburg, SC, Sherry J. Hightower (Steve), Aiken. She was a wonderful grandmother to her 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. “She was the rock of our family and will be missed deeply. In our hearts and minds, we love you forever and ever, Mama.”
In addition to her husband and parents, Earline was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy R. Johnson and two sisters, Geraldine Smathers and Gaynell Taylor.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning beginning at 10 o’clock in the Welcome Center at Town Creek Baptist Church followed by a memorial service in the Worship Center at 11 o’clock. The Rev. Don Lemmon will officiate.
