AIKEN, SC – Mrs. Miquela Hawkins Keating, 73, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Mrs. Keating was born in Harrisburg, PA to the late Thomas Sylvester and Edna Mae Swank Hawkins. She worked as a teacher in Chicago, IL. and moved to Aiken in 1994. She was of Catholic faith. Mrs. Keating loved being surrounded by her family, especially her 12 grandchildren. Family gatherings brought her great joy. She also was an avid sports fan, watching her favorite teams play. Mrs. Keating is survived by a daughter, Erin Keating-Brinkley, Aiken; three sons, Patrick David (Cindy) Keating, Aiken, Casey Keating, Aiken, Michael (Amy) Keating, Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Rebecca Keating, Morgan Keating, Sydney Keating, Chloe Keating, Maggie Munschy, Dani Brinkley, Aiden Munschy, Molly Keating, Kathleen Keating, Charles Keating, Daniel Keating, Patrick Keating and a sister, M. Carol McIlree, Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Patrick Keating; sister, Charlie Hawkins and a stepfather, George David McIver. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Aiken County Public School District, Office of Comptroller, Homeless Students, 1000 Brookhaven Dr., Aiken, SC 29803 Interment will be held 2:30 PM Monday, November 9, 2015 in Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Westmont, IL. A visitation will be held from 2-4 PM Saturday, November 7, 2015 at SHELLHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 924 HAYNE AVE., AIKEN, SC.
