AIKEN, SC - Luther Joseph Doyle spent more than two years fighting cancer, acute T-cell leukemia. Sadly on Friday, November 6, 2015, he was called home to be with the Lord. He was 34.
Joe was born on July 13th, 1981, in the City of Chicago, Illinois. The son of Frances Carol Cobb-Workman and Kenneth (KennyBull) Doyle, his family moved to Aiken in 1990.
Joe excelled at every kind of sport. He joined several local leagues and teams over the years. He was active in his church youth programs; working with youth evangelists, puppeteering, going on mission trips, and helping out with fund-raisers and plays. He had varied hobbies and interests, including Gamecocks football, mastering video games' tactics and strategies, expertly tossing pizza, even playing collectible card games with friends at the local bookstore. He also appeared as an Extra in the 2002 motion picture "Juwanna Mann", filmed in North Carolina.
Writing music and playing basketball were his true passions.
Joe loved his son, Gabriel Joseph Doyle. He loved to laugh. And he loved a "spirited" debate. But Joe always had a smile on his face and a lot of love in his heart. He was a kind-hearted comedian.
He is survived by his son, Gabriel, and three step-daughters, Mercedes, Faith, and Gabriela; his beloved mother, Frances, and her husband, John Victor Workman; and his grandmother, Jewel Caroline Cobb; his loving sisters, Melonie Jewel Crawford, Rena Renee Jones, Kimberly Sherrie Jones, and Penelope Jackson; his brother, Kenneth Phillip Doyle II; his step-sisters, Mercy and Stacey, and his step-brothers, Derrick and Shane.
A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at The Well, 265 Wire Rd., Aiken (formerly New Covenant Praise Church). The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
