AIKEN – Mr. Max General, age 82, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Augusta, GA.
Max is survived by his son, Max, Jr., and his former wife, Kay General who cared for him throughout his illness of Alzheimer’s, and a sister, Dorothy (Walter) Kukich. Max was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Prebeck and father, Anton General, and daughter, Brenda Oden.
Max was born in Keewatin, MN on August 28, 1933. He graduated from the Keewatin High School and served in the US Army as Private General. He was an active businessman in the Hibbing, MN area for many years owning the General Vegetable Markets/Lawn and Garden Centers in Hibbing and Virginia, MN. He also operated the General Trucking Company. In 1984, he and his wife Kay opened the very successful Old Howard Saloon and Eatery in Hibbing. In 1996, they retired and moved to Jupiter, FL.
In 2013, Max moved to Aiken, SC to be closer to family for his care. He resided in Aiken for three years until his illness took his life.
Services will be private.
