Mildred Bodie Hodges Powell

AIKEN – Mrs. Mildred Bodie Hodges Powell entered heaven on November 29, 2015 at the age of 89 to meet her Savior. She was the daughter of Eva and Ollie E. Bodie and was born in Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM Tuesday, December 1, with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home chapel. The Reverends John Newton and Randy Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Powell is survived by her daughters, Patricia H. (John) Newton, Beverly H. (Larry) Mixson, Teresa H. (Randy) Brown. She had three sons-in-law, whom she considered and loved as sons. She was blessed with four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John H. Hodges and Edward H. Powell. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a strong Christian and a charter member of Living Hope Fellowship and a past member of North Aiken Baptist Church for over fifty years. She graduated from Aiken High School in 1942 at the age of sixteen. She was employed by Southern Bell before her marriage. She enjoyed being with her family and loved Christian television and worshiping Jesus.
