AIKEN, SC – JOHN STANLEY DAVIS, SR., 81, widower of Angeline Hopkins Davis, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at his residence.
A native of Badin, NC, Mr. Davis was a son of the late James Robert and Flossie Camilla Talbert Davis. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Davis had lived in Aiken County since 1970 and had moved to Aiken 5 years ago from North Augusta. He was retired from DuPont at the Savanna River Plant. His wife of 56 years, Angeline, passed away October 29, 2008.
Survivors include three daughters, Trina Davis, Aiken, Kathy (Calvin) Zippler, Aiken and Tammy (Bob) Voigt, Warrenville, a son, SGT John S. (Kyungja) Davis, US Army, The Netherlands, five grandchildren, Alexis Davis-Owens, Emily Paradise, Justin Voigt, John S. Davis III and Angeline Davis, and a great-grandson, Gabriel Paradise. Preceding Mr. Davis in death, in addition to his wife and parents were a sister, Louise and five brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Howard, Donald and Reggie.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
