SENECA, SC – Dr. William Rutherford Phillips Wilson, 84, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday at St. Johns United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. George K. Howle will officiate. Interment will be held at 1:30 in the Springfield United Methodist Church Cemetery, Springfield, SC.
Dr. Wilson was born in Charleston, SC, a son of the late Henry and Elma Phillips Wilson. He was a radiologist, the founding President of Alpha Pi Mu, supported the Republican Party, and was an entrepreneur in the development of MRI and Cat Scan technology; the mobility of getting the technology to hospitals that did not have it available. He was a partner with Piedmont Radiologists.
Survivors include his son, William Henry Phillip Wilson, Seneca; Susie Onishi Wilson and her children, Pattie Seward, ,Seneca and, Johnny Wright, Richmond, VA; brother, Elmer (Mary Jo) Wilson, Aiken; niece, Betsy Wilson-Mahoney, Aiken; nephew, Lowrie Rutherford Wilson, Aiken.
