Ernest Ray Jones

KNOXVILLE, TN – ERNEST RAY JONES, 89, widower of Vicky Abrams Jones, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Park West Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Ernest was born in Dongola, IL, a son of the late Everett R. and Mattie E. Toler Jones. Mr. Jones proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a retired instrument engineer. He and his late wife moved to Aiken, SC in 1999 from Conroe, TX. After his wife’s death in 2002 he moved to Knoxville, TN in 2004. Survivors include his son, Larry R. Jones, Knoxville, TN, three grandchildren, Leslie Jones Fletcher, Ernest Kevin Jones and Stephen Bradley Jones and two great-grandchildren, Zachary Jones and Lucas Jones. Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley, SC, with The Rev. Joseph Whitehurst officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Thursday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC, prior to the service.
