NEW ELLENTON, SC – RANDY WIDENER, 52, beloved husband of Sandra Porter Widener, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, GA after an extended illness.
A native and life long resident of New Ellenton, Randy was a son of Jessie Eubanks Widener and the late Tommie Allen Widener. He was a member of Talatha Baptist Church. Randy was formerly employed in the parts warehouse at Duke Buick. He had been disabled for a number of years. He enjoyed spending time at the BP/Exxon station in New Ellenton. He was a big fan of NASCAR and loved go-cart racing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Sandra include his daughter, Dana Widener (Cory) Ford, Aiken, a grandson, Hayden Lee Ford, his mother Jessie of New Ellenton, a sister, Pam Widener (Danny) Jenkins, Aiken and a brother, Rhett Wilson (Lace) Widener, Jackson, SC. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lee Widener.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 PM at Talatha Baptist Church, with The Rev. Roy Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Porter, Myers Porter, Stanley Porter, Julian Thigpen, Duane Feldman, Jerry Webb, Harold Key and Harry Owens.
