John Rainey Brandt

Aiken-John Rainey Brandt, 94, died March 30 at home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 Thursday at Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Martha Ebel officiating. Interment will be private. He was born in Athens, GA to the late Rudolph and Vessie Lee Rainey Brandt. He retired as Vice President of Aetna Insurance Co. He moved to Aiken in 1989. He was a Army 1st. Lt. Veteran of WWII, Mason, member of VFW, and Palmetto Golf Club where he was a avid golfer since his retirement. He and his wife summered at their house in New Harbor, ME. He was especially proud to be a grandson of Civil War Veterans. Survivors include his loving wife, Babette Lenna Brandt and beloved daughter, Linda Brandt, New Durham, NH. Other survivors include grandchildren, Kimberly R .Brandt, Katherine B. Brandt and Jessie Brandt. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faith Barber Brandt and his son, Richard Brandt.
