NEW ELLENTON, SC – ROBERT LEE “PETE” TUCKER, 90, beloved husband of Carol Howington Tucker, died Monday, December 21, 2015 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Wadesboro, NC, Pete was a son of the late Lee and Kate Trexler Tucker. He was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and the United States Air Force during Korea. He lived in Aiken County since 1953 and was a retired power operator with DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. Pete was a member and Deacon at Foreman Memorial Baptist Church in New Ellenton and was president of the Berea Pals Sunday School Class. He was a former member and Deacon at Talatha Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Carol, include two daughters, Sandra T. Sapp (Thomas), New Ellenton and Amy T. Bryant (David), Aiken; a step-son, Jeffrey Peters, Tallahassee, FL; three grandchildren, Trina Cooper, Amber Bryant and David Lee Bryant; three great-grandchildren, Anna, Nicole and Ryan Gleaton; three sisters, Ann Crotts (Robert), Lincolnton, NC, Margaret Shaver, Wadesboro, NC and Frances Starling, Wadesboro, NC and a brother, Charles Tucker (Hazel), Greensboro, NC. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Bell Henry Tucker and a son, Robert Lee Tucker, Jr.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning, December 24th, beginning at 10 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 o’clock at the funeral home. The Rev. Richard Nichols will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
