Anne Wynne McMichael

AIKEN, SC - Anne Wynne McMichael, age 93, daughter of the late Irene Hagood Wynne and Morgan T. Wynne and wife of the late Billy M. Burckhalter, passed away on December 29, 2015 in Augusta, Georgia. A Celebration of Anne’s Life will be held at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Road, Aiken, SC on Thursday afternoon, December 31, 2015 at 2 o’clock. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Aiken, SC. She was a native of Atlanta, Georgia but moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia in the 1930’s where her family was in the hotel business. She also served in the Civil Air Patrol at St. Simons during WW II, coastal division. She later married Billy M. Burckhalter and moved to Aiken, SC in 1950. She worked as a finance secretary for St. John’s United Methodist Church in Aiken, SC for 33 years. She was also a member of St. John’s UMC and the Katie Williams Sunday School class. She loved playing bridge and was active in several local bridge groups. She was an avid sports fan. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She later married the late John C. McMichael who is survived by his children, John C. McMichael, Jr. (Nancy) and Patsy Flowers (Neil). Anne is survived by her three children, William M. Burckhalter (Katie), Kirkwood, MO, Cathrene Burckhalter Farabee, Augusta, GA and Philip G. Burckhalter (Renee), Columbia, SC, 10 grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bill Burckhalter, Phil Burckhalter, Andy Passmore, Ben Burckhalter, Drew Passmore, Jamie Felder.
