HOUSTON, TX – WENDELL RAYNELL EDWARDS, SR., 90, husband of the late Beatrice Lake Edwards, died Wednesday, January 06, 2016 in Houston, TX.
A native of Tifton, GA, Wendell was a son of the late John Elbert and Ollie Pearl Robenson Edwards. He moved to Aiken County in 1953 to work for DuPont at the Savannah Plant. He later worked as a maintenance mechanic at the Medical College of Georgia before moving to Houston 28 years ago.
Survivors include two daughters, Candice Olney (Paul) and Trudy Duncan (Tommy) all of Aiken; a son, Ray Edwards (Bonnie), Houston, TX; a son-in-law, Buddy Koon, Warrenville, SC; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Edwards, Thomson, GA; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Koon; a son, Alston Edwards; a sister, Avie Murphy and two brothers, Carlton Edwards and Caroyl Edwards.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. Chris Addy officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Todd Duncan, Travis Garvin, Timmy Garvin, Robert Steel, Chris Koon and T. J. Garvin.
