Annie Mae Weir Ford

May 30, 1919 — January 19, 2016

NEW ELLENTON, SC – ANNIE MAE WEIR FORD, 96, widow of Marion Clark Ford, Sr., died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at her residence. A native of Rock Hill, SC, Mrs. Ford was a daughter of the late William David Samuel Weir and Annie Mae McKeown Weir. She was a graduate of Erskine College. Mrs. Ford lived in Aiken County since the early 1950’s. She taught 3rd grade for 47 years, with the last 24 at Greendale Elementary in New Ellenton. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Ellenton. She was a key figure in the revitalization of the Atomic City Festival and oversaw the festival for 20 years. Survivors include her son, Marion Clark “Bo” Ford (Celida), Boca Raton, FL; four grandchildren, Sydelle Young, Athens, GA, Ron Reynolds, Jr., New Ellenton, Chad Ford, Boca Raton, FL and Susan Ford (Jameel), Boca Raton, FL; five great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Young, Aamir, Brandon and Kailey Juman. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia F. Grant. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Paul United Methodist Church, New Ellenton with The Rev. Robert Reeves officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Liles, Dr. Charles Wyont, Charles Goodman, Sr., Charles Goodman, Jr., Dr. William Gallman and Richard Crosby. Interment will follow Friday afternoon at 2:30 in the Hopewell ARP Church Cemetery, Blackstock, SC. Memorial contributions may be directed to Savannah River Cancer Foundation, P.O.
