AIKEN - Mrs. Marion Plum Anawalt, 83, widow of the late William "Bill" Anawalt, Chief Master Sergeant, US Air Force, (Ret.), passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Saturday, January 30, 2016 at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with the Rev. Joseph Whitehurst officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Stevenson-McClelland building. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
Mrs. Anawalt was born February 26, 1932 in Portsmouth, England to the late Charles and Marion Isabelle Stuthridge Plum. She grew up in England but during her childhood she also lived China and Malta. Following World War II she married William and immigrated to the US. She spent her life supporting William's military career as well as building her own career in customer service and banking. Marion and Bill moved to Aiken in 1996 and made it their home. She was an active member of Aiken Regional Hospital Auxiliary and St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Donald Alan Anawalt, Colonel, USAF, (Ret.), Alexandria, VA, William Keith (Durva) Anawalt, CDR, USN, (Ret.), San Diego, CA; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a half brother, Keith Wilson, Rugby, England.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Anawalt was preceded in death by a daughter, Marion E. Anawalt and two brothers, Donald C. Plum and George F. Plum.
