Donald Neilson Rothrock, 81, died suddenly Friday, April 17, 2009, of a heart attack. Don was born August 25st, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A graduate of both Pittsburgh and Penn State Universities, Don was retired from a 40-year career as a restaurateur in Ohio and Minnesota. Don was a highly accomplished woodworker, a great lover of animals, and an avid golfer.
Don is survived by his wife, of 45 years, Margaret Grantham Rothrock. Together they lived at Cedar Creek in Aiken where they have many good friends. Don was an active member of St John’s United Methodist Church in Aiken. Don is survived by two sons, Andrew of Milwaukee (wife Lynn, Scott and Suzanne), Martin of Stuttgart, Germany (wife Beth, Grace) as well as his daughter Dawn (Wesley) of Waterloo, Iowa. He is also survived by his brother Richard of Pittsburgh, and countless nieces, nephews and friends.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 21st, 2009 at St John’s United Methodist , 104 Newberry Street in Aiken at 4 pm , followed by a reception at St. John’s . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed any animal shelter you would like to honor, in Donald’s name.
