Harriet R. Murray, 81, of Findlay, OH and formerly of Aiken, SC, passed away on February 7, 2016 at The Heritage in Findlay, OH. Harriet was born in 1934 in Ridgeville, SC to the late Hope Smith and Edna Reeves. She is survived by her husband, William J. (Buddy) Murray, Sr. Their children include: William J. (Jerry) Murray, Jr. (Susan) of Findlay, OH; David H. Murray (Marie) of Aiken, SC and Millie Hanlon (Trevor) of Havelock, NC. They have eight grandchildren: Kitanya, Elliott, Shane, Mikayla, Ian, William, Amanda and Robin. Harriet’s brothers and sisters include Jane Parker, Wayne Reeves, Pansy Jordan, Robert Reeves, Joseph Reeves, Charles Reeves and Melvin Reeves (Deceased). She enjoyed a long career in banking where she advanced from a teller to Senior Vice President for Carolina First Bank before she retired in 2003. Harriet loved the Lord and was very active in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Aiken, SC teaching Sunday School while also using her leadership skills on the Pastoral Council and various finance committees. A wonderful cook, she and Buddy enjoyed grilling on the back porch, camping in their RV and entertaining friends and family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd, Aiken, SC. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2724 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC. Burial will follow in the Aiken Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
