AIKEN, SC - Patricia “Pat” Bailey of Aiken SC passed away on Wednesday Feb 10 after a long illness at Agape Hospice House in Columbia SC. She was 81 years old. Pat was the loving wife of James “Jim” Bailey of Aiken SC for 25 years. Born and raised in Newport RI, a daughter of the late John J Murphy and Rita (Voight) Murphy, Pat lived in Bluffton and Aiken SC for the past 18 years. Prior to that, Pat lived in Nashua NH where she was a Senior OBGYN Nurse Practitioner for Matthew Thornton Health for many years before retiring. Pat received her degree in Nursing from Newport RI Hospital, followed by a BS in Healthcare from New England College; and subsequently her Nurse Practitioner Certification from the Univ of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA in 1980. Pat was one of the first Nurse Practioners of her time. Known for her sense of style, Pat loved her career that allowed for her to travel the world to learn, enjoy, and help others. She had a deep love for the beach, her homes in SC, her husband Jim, and their beloved dog “Baby”. Pat is survived by her husband Jim of Aiken SC, and children Roger E. Doty Jr “Rob” of Armonk NY, Elisabeth D. Cloyd “Lisa” of Newfields, NH; Susanne C. Navarro of Naples FL, and Eric B. Doty of Bedford, NH; her sister Barbara Ruscetta of Newport RI, brother Edward Murphy of San Pedro CA; and 7 grandchildren. Pat was previously married to the late Roger E Doty, Sr of Westerly, RI. Calling hours will be Sat Feb 13 at 1 PM at the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral home in Aiken SC followed by a Funeral Mass at 2 PM at St Gerard’s Catholic Church.
