AIKEN, SC – VERA RISH KEISLER, 90, beloved wife of Lamar L. Keisler, died Saturday evening, February 27, 2016 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native and life-long resident of Aiken County, Vera was a daughter of the late William Doby and Maggie Lee Garvin Rish. She graduated from Wagener High School and retired from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission. Vera was a long-time member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and served as the church’s first secretary in the old little white church. She was very active in the United Methodist Women, Fellowship Sunday School Class and various Church Circle’s. Vera played Bridge in several clubs. She was well known for her World Class Peanut Brittle.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 65 years, Lamar, include her daughter, Gayle K. Garrison, Aiken; her son, Gary L. Keisler (Louise), Mt. Pleasant, SC; three granddaughters, Haley Keisler, Katie Keisler and Cheryl Whitt (Russ) and two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Connor Wright.
In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Bonnette.
A Celebration of Vera’s Life will be held Thursday, afternoon, March 3rd at 2 o’clock at St. John’s United Methodist Church with The Revs. Dr. Tim McClendon, Kristin Dollar and Nancy Reed officiating. Members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
A reception will follow the service in Ward Hall.
