AIKEN - Mogwedell Goode Norman passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2016.
Mogwedell, 87, was born in St. Florian, Alabama (near Florence) on September 14, 1928, one of nine children of Jesse Marshall Goode and Susie Maude Newbern.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years, James (Jim) McLean Norman.
She is survived by her daughters Teresa Norman Hallman and Mary Sue Wyatt (Doug), grandsons Jason A. Hallman (Glenn), Zachary D. Wyatt (Amy), and Adam T.M. Wyatt, granddaughter Rebecca S. Wyatt, and great-grandson, Everett H. Wyatt.
Mogwedell was very involved in the community of Corydon, IN. She was a teacher's aide and school secretary at Corydon Junior High School, a member of Corydon Country Club, Women's Club, served on the zoning commission, and was a founding board member of Harrison County YMCA. She loved music and was involved in the music ministry and served as an elder at Corydon Presbyterian Church. Mogwedell loved to read, do crossword puzzles, play Scrabble and bridge, and also loved to play golf and to dance. In addition to being elegant in all she did, she had an intelligent, open, and inquisitive mind. In 2007, she and Jim moved to Aiken and joined First Presbyterian Church where she became involved in programs there. She was as beloved in Aiken as she was in Corydon.
A memorial service will be held 3:30 PM Monday, March 14, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church Aiken with the Rev. Brian Coulter and the Rev. Holly Shoaf-O’Kula officiating.
